| It is a common temptation of Satan to make us give up the reading of the Word and prayer when our enjoyment is gone; as if it were of no use to read the Scriptures when we do not enjoy them, and as if it were no use to pray when we have no spirit of prayer. The truth is that in order to enjoy the Word, we ought to continue to read it, and the way to obtain a spirit of prayer is to continue praying. The Avengers reminds us of a broken world filled with broken heroes who need to be a part of something more than their own egos and day-to-day ventures. To discover true heroics which have already saved and need not avenge, one must simply look up. Look past the towering green shoulders of The Hulk, past the lit-up Stark Tower and beyond even the skies from which Thor brings his thunder. See beyond a soldier with the name of but one country and discover a God who is not a comic book Hero but is real, and is the all holy creator of the universe.
God did create the world, but it is no longer the way he created it. The world we live in truly is broken. You need not look any farther than the newspaper to know this. When Adam ate the fruit in the Garden he brought sin into God’s holy creation and along with it came death, disease, calamity, tragedy, wars and strife.
God loves us so much that while we were yet sinners He sent His Son to bring us back into relationship with Him, we were separated from him due to our sins.
Because God is Holy, He cannot have a relationship with what is unholy. If you have ever committed one sin you are unholy and God can have nothing to do with you. Have you ever told a lie? Have you ever taken anything that did not belong to you without permission? Have you ever used his name as a cuss word.
The wages of Sin is Death. Jesus took your punishment when He suffered and died on the cross. He rose again defeating death, to save you from Hell. He will separate your sins from you as far as the east is from the west, you simply need to Repent, turn away from your sins (Luke 13:5) and follow Him today. When your sins have been paid for by Jesus you are brought back into relationship with God, just how mankind was meant to be from the beginning.
John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
John 3:36 "He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."
